We serve neighbors regardless of faith background or church affiliation.

What kind of help does PCM provide?

We offer two primary types of assistance. First, zero-interest emergency loans of up to $300 for utility bills — water, gas, and electricity — to prevent shut-offs and keep neighbors in their homes. Second, we manage funding for critical home repairs, including roofing and structural safety, through Community Development Block Grants and private resources.

How do I apply for assistance?

Call us at (334) 887-3777 or email info@pcm-al.org to schedule an appointment. You can also walk in during office hours. To be considered, you will need to bring a valid photo ID, your current utility bill or documentation of your need, and have lived at your address for at least three months.

Is my donation a one-time gift, or does it keep helping?

It keeps helping. Most of PCM's assistance is provided as a zero-interest loan. When a neighbor repays their loan, those funds go right back out to help the next person in crisis. Your gift is a revolving investment in the Lee County community.

How do I know my donation stays in Lee County?

PCM exclusively serves residents of Lee County, Alabama. Every dollar donated goes directly toward preventing local utility shut-offs or funding critical home repairs for your neighbors.

Who decides who receives help?

Accepted Answer

Every applicant meets privately with our staff for an intake conversation. Our board of directors reviews and approves each case, hearing the story, reviewing the financials, and making sure assistance goes where it will have the most meaningful impact.

Is PCM only for members of Presbyterian churches?

Accepted Answer

No. While PCM was founded by First Presbyterian Church of Auburn, we serve all Lee County neighbors regardless of faith, church membership, or background. Our work is community-wide.

Can I give in honor or memory of someone?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Honorariums and memorials are a meaningful part of how our community supports this work. When you give in someone's honor, we will send a personalized acknowledgment to the family or individual you are recognizing.

Yes. Our staff is familiar with many local organizations and resources beyond what PCM directly provides. If we are not able to help, we will do our best to point you in the right direction. We want every neighbor who walks through our door to leave with options.
